More Lies From The "Right" That Are Totally WRONG

We've noted before that there are lies, there are damned lies, then there are the lies Conservatives tell, and at Fox News the term "expert" really means "expert liar..."

"Fox Terror 'Expert' Admits He Lied: 'I Deserve What I Got for Saying Birmingham is Totally Muslim' (Video)."

"It’s no secret that certain conservative media outlets have been demonizing Muslims for a long time. Every now and then, that narrative reaches unbelievably cartoonish and Orwellian proportions, as was the case with Fox News terror 'expert' Steve Emerson’s comments this Sunday.

"During Sunday’s segment, Emerson claimed that the entire British city of Birmingham was 'totally Muslim' and that 'non-Muslims just simply don’t go in.'

"As a result, Twitter (many Britains included) punished Emerson mercilessly using the hashtag #foxnewsfacts.

"Clearly reeling from the backlash, the analyst spoke to the BBC and admitted that his comments were ridiculous.

"'As far as my statement — the statement about Birmingham — I was relying on information that was totally incorrect,' Emerson said...

Thanks to Conservatism, now you too can be a terror expert!

"Glenn Greenwald on How to Be a Terror 'Expert': Ignore Facts, Blame Muslims, Trumpet U.S. Propaganda."

"Who are the so-called terrorism experts? In the wake of the Paris attacks, the corporate media has once again flooded its news programs with pundits claiming authority on terrorism, foreign policy and world events. We discuss the growing and questionable field of 'terrorism experts' with three guests: Glenn Greenwald, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and co-founder of The Intercept; Lisa Stampnitzky, social studies lecturer at Harvard University and author of 'Disciplining Terror: How Experts Invented "Terrorism"'; and Luc Mathieu, foreign affairs reporter for the French newspaper Libération...(Click here for the rest of the story --> http://www.democracynow.org/2015/1/13/glenn_greenwald_on_how_to_be )

But let's take a look at some of the usual lies coming from the Cons...

"President Obama 'Is The Face Of Islam In America.'"

"On today's 'Pray In Jesus Name' program, Gordon Klingenschmitt interviewed Bill Warner, who runs the website PoliticalIslam.com, to get his thoughts about last week's terrorist attack in Paris.

"Eventually the conversation turned to Klingenschmitt's concern that President Obama is 'promoting Islam with American tax dollars,' which prompted Warner to declare that, under Sharia law, Obama is a Muslim, which makes him 'the face of Islam in America.'

"'He always, as I say, chops wood and carries water for Muhammad,' Warner said. 'He clearly represents them in his foreign policy speeches. He represents them in his White House spokesmen. He is the face of Islam in America..."

...and one of their favorite liars:

This is their favorite lie, of course...

And here is how they spread their lies: by turning fear into hate...

Some might call our Conservative liars "psychos..."

But others just call them expert practioners of the Gish Gallop...

"5 Things Right-Wingers Lie Shamelessly About."

"Conservatives have figured out a neat rhetorical trick: tell lies so fast your opponents can't keep up.

"Mark Twain once famously said, 'A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.' Twain wasn’t praising lies with this comment, of course, but modern-day conservatives seem to think he was dishing out advice instead of damning the practice of dishonesty. Conservatives have figured out a neat little rhetorical trick: One lie is easy for your opponents to debunk. Tell one lie after another, however, and your opponent’s debunkings will never catch up. By the time the liberal opposition has debunked one lie, there are a dozen more to take its place.

"Science educator Eugenie Scott deemed the technique the 'Gish Gallop,' named for a notoriously sleazy creationist named Duane Gish. The Urban Dictionary defines the Gish Gallop as a technique that 'involves spewing so much bullshit in such a short span that your opponent can’t address let alone counter all of it.' Often users of the Gish Gallop know their arguments are nonsense or made in bad faith, but don’t particularly care because they are so dead set on advancing their agenda. Unfortunately, the strategy is so effective that it’s been expanding rapidly in right-wing circles. Here are just a few of the most disturbing examples of the Gish Gallop in action.

"1. Creationism. It’s no surprise creationists inspired the coining of the term Gish Gallop, as they have perfected the art of making up nonsense faster than scientists can refute it.

But for Conservatism, it's always about language and how to manipulate it...

...even if the Cons don't know much about their own language.

So don't fall for their lies - ever!

********************

We all know why the Conservatives have to lie - it's because their core values are limited to one value ONLY: the protection of the wealthiest and greediest among us and enhancement of these rich patrons' income and assets.

The relentless drive towards total power over the rest of us is crucial to understanding why they lie, because after all we're supposed to be living in a country where participatory democracy is a given.

But not to the Cons - that's what makes them criminals...and liars.

Let's criminalize Conservatism before it's too late. (By Joyce, Jnr.)
